Görlitz
Masterclass
for harp

Görlitz, at the heart of Europe and the crossroads of Poland, Czechia, and Germany, is the venue for this new harp masterclass. The city's unique geographical location inspired its creation, offering an ideal connection for musicians from various nations. The course provides an opportunity to embrace the region's cultural diversity and foster musical exchange across borders, while participants refine their skills under professional guidance.

The Görlitz Harp Masterclass is designed for harpists at both student and professional levels who wish to deepen their skills and engage in international musical exchange. Each year, the course is enriched by a different international guest lecturer, including renowned names like Prof. Gisèle Herbet, Lydie Härtelová, Zuzanna Elster, and Frédérique Cambreling.

The course promotes networking in the tri-border region and offers free passive participation. There are special possibilities for pupils from music schools and it maintains close collaborations with Liberec/Reichenberg (Czechia) and Jelenia Góra/Hirschberg (Poland).

Who is it for?

What awaits you?

The core of the week includes daily individual harp lessons with me and the guest lecturer. There is ample time and space for personal practice, and harps are provided for participants without their own instrument.

In addition to lessons, the course offers a range of activities, such as chamber music, a harp repair workshop by Riedel Harps, and yoga. Leisure activities are also well-planned, including city tours, museum visits, relaxation at Berzdorfer See, and evenings at Hotel Obermühle.

The central location of the Görlitz Harp Masterclass is the Obermühle Görlitz, where both accommodation and lessons take place. Private practice studios at the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater are available for participants. The Hotel Obermühle offers Slow Food-certified meals for breakfast and lunch, and invites participants to dine in its evening restaurant.

The historic old town of Görlitz and the nearby Polish partner city, Zgorzelec, provide ample opportunities for exploration and relaxation.

The final concert

We will conclude the week with a festive final concert at the beautiful Kulturforum Görlitzer Synagoge. This historic synagogue, the only one in the present-day Free State of Saxony to survive the Pogromnacht of 1938, has been meticulously restored and now shines in its original splendor. During the concert, participants will have the opportunity to present the works they developed throughout the week in front of an enthusiastic audience. Afterwards, we will celebrate together before everyone departs the following day.
